Classically elegant – and affordable! So let me begin by saying that I’m a bit of a watch collector. I own a few automatics, and a few quartz ones as well. What I was really on the hunt for is a black leather strap dress watch with a blue face, and I kinda had my heart set on acquiring an Omega De Ville Hour Vision at a discounted price. However, that watch is a special edition, limited run model that runs 6 grand. At this stage in my life, 6 grand is probably better utilized if deposited into college savings accounts for my kids, rather than for yet another watch for dear old Dad. Also, at 41mm case diameter, that watch is simply a tad large for my wrist. Enter the Seiko Men’s Solar watch with blue face. This watch is simply beautiful. Maybe it’s just me, but I prefer watches that don’t look like they could double as a blunt weapon.2) Styling. I’m pretty conservative and minimalist in terms of watch styling. The deep blue face adds a little spice to the classic dress watch look, and the day/date function is useful but not overly distracting.3) Function. What’s probably the best part about this watch is its solar feature. No need to take it in to the shop for a battery change. The small luminous dots above the indices and…
